Legal Services of the Palestinian Shippers Council
The Palestinian Shippers Council makes huge efforts to provide professional legal services not only to PSC members specifically, but also to the importers and exporters sector in general. PSC seeks a pioneering position in providing and developing legal services to better serve the target groups and protect their rights and interests.
Current status of Palestinian trade and its various problematic aspects impose more challenges that need to be addressed within a variety of regulations and legal tools. This requires special efforts that should be made by PSC in order to eliminate legal obstacles and protect members' businesses. Therefore, legal mechanisms should be identified alongside types of legal services that PSC, as a national organization, should take responsibility of in order to achieve its goals.
The idea of establishing a legal unit emerged from the above mentioned facts. The legal unit is needed in order to diagnose legal issues facing importers and exporters, and to address these issues professionally. Previously, a needs assessment survey was conducted to assist in identifying concerns of importers and exporters with regards to basic legal issues and obstacles they face. Based on this survey, PSC developed a plan to identify needed services that the Council will provide to its members, as a priority, and to the overall shippers community.
