Training Objectives

Since the signing of the Oslo agreement in 1993, and in spite of the many restrictions imposed on the movement of goods, foreign trade in Palestine has witnessed a slow but steady growth.

The majority of the goods is moved into the country by road after being cleared from ports and enters the West Bank through any of the seven cargo crossing points, which are used simultaneously to export Palestinian goods from the West Bank to Palestinian cities beyond the green line and abroad. The complex nature of managing the trade sector, its processes and operations; Importing and Exporting, dealing with two different crossing authorities and customs, lack of expertise within the private sector in handling customs procedures, storage and transport issues, and the absence of specialized courses in Palestinian universities that focus on logistics and trade management, highlighted the importance of offering this specialized and most needed program and consequently obtaining its Training Program.

This training was designed, with clear identified objectives based on a field study carried out by PSC. The expected results can be summarized in the following points:

Expected Outcomes:

To improve the performance of the participating Palestinian companies with regards to the management of import and export of goods. To reduce the cost of imported and exported goods throughout all the stages of this process. To increase the quantity of goods exported from Palestine. To create job opportunities for new graduates in private sector companies handling imports/ exports issues.

Through implementing the training program, the PSC aspires to improve the performance of the Palestinian private sector and reduce costs and time incurred in foreign trade transactions.
